I joined this plan and met with my doctor. I brought discs of X-rays and MRI's of the last five years.

Plus a list of doctors. I have degenerative disc disorder and 2 protruding discs. He wasn't interested in any info I brought. He cut Hydrocordone from 3 per day to 2 and increased Lyrica ( a non-covered expensive drug to 3 per day.) Someone told me of the "donut hole"...I called Kaiser pharmacy and they told me I would reach it in 5 months and after that I would pay full price for my meds..$734 per month.

Of course I changed the meds myself and went back to 3 hydrodordone per day and 1 Lyrica at night (per my pain managememnt before I joined Kaiser)..I went to see my doctor and told him what I had done because of the "donut hole"..he had no clue what that was and made phone calls and found out it was true. He said "we will cross that bridge when we come to it"...oh really, you will or I will. I told him I was out of pain meds and asked to renew early..he said no. Then he said I will schedule you steroidal epidural.

I said "oh really, without an MRI??" He said, "of yeah I will schedule that". I told him they are not going to stick needles in my back without knowing where to go (I had several epidurals when I hadd health ins.).My experience with Kaiser was sooo very bad that I am leavng.

I asked to see an orthopedist and the answer was no you can't, we have to take certain step. I wouldn't take my dogs to Kaiser.

Its 2017 and the same things are go in on but worse. I've Been chronic pain patient for 15 years failed back syndrome.

Degenerative disc disease, just had 2nd cervical surgery 7th back surgery total. And they are trying to take me off all my pain medication. Are they out of there minds. I'm outta there.

But not wthout filing a compliment with healthcare government,, state , city etc... Whomever I can spread the word. Not too mention their unprofessional staff complaining about their jobs and patients " us " while we lay in bed and listen. Their horrible dirty smelling hospital n Sacramento Morse Ave to be exact.

It was cold when I was there from weird weather in Dec2016 we had to ask to have heat turned on and more blankets, while they walked around in parkas. And big no no. They made huge mistake scaring my husband to death calling him saying they were going to take me back into surgery. Only because there was a patient with the same first name????

Are you kidding me. People run from there.

They are undoubtedlye the worst healthcare system that I know about. I could

Keep going about other mistakes or unjust decisions in doing or not doing things, they would blow your mind.

Wait! Lyrica is a phenominial drug for 30% of people who take it.

My husband was suicidal until he got it from KP. Total cost for the drug (at a KP Pharmacy) for my husband (100mg, 4x/day) is $569. Of this, he pays $75, KP pays $494. Prior to Kaiser Sr Advantage, we went to a retail pharmacy known for lower prices for the Lyrica-- and the cost for same dosage/day was MORE THAN $1000/month.

Don't give up your KP Sr Advantage drug benefits! Hydrocodone is cheap, but does very little if anything for the condition/pain you've described.
