Very Poor Medical Treatment

Don't go to Kaiser if you care about your health.I have had several very negative experiences at Kaiser. Way too many to list here.

This month I have been experiencing fevers that results in pouring sweat and then getting very, very, cold. I have no energy and these episodes happen several times a day. I think I have an infection. I can't sleep at night because of these sweats and pain in my neck and some pain in my ears.

Tomorrow I will see yet another doctor who I am sure will do nothing for me.

I actually think that they are dangerous to seniors because they deliberately ignore everything you say, leaving one more ill and more depressed.

I have never seen anything like this. They want seniors to enroll, however, they have little intention of actually treating them.

It takes too much time to get someone on the line

I'm in the process of completing my IRS report for the year 2021, and I need to get my pharmacy expenses. I cannot get through to anyone over the phone. It is very important that I talk to a live person.

Preferred solution: Accurate information on my pharmacy expenses and co-pay amounts paid for medical services rendered, including the emergency room for the year 2021..

User's recommendation: Kaiser must set up a better communication system. The smart machine doesn't do all the jobs.

I can’t find words to explain my dissatisfaction…..

Went for a general checkup, saw a Dr. I had never seen before.

Didnt seem to be any reasons for concern until I got blindsided by the the letter from the DMV. Evidently the Dr. put in his report that I had slight memory loss, and Kaiser (I am assuming) informed the DMV. I have had to take the written test (no problem) and now have to report to DMV and have an employee go for a ride with me.

I have never been in an accident or even gotten a ticket in my 52 years of driving. I will NEVER go to a Kaiser facility again in my life!

I am presently searching for a new physician that is outside of a giant corporate healthcare mill.

Cons:
  • Lack of patient relationship development and compassionate care

Preferred solution: The only answer I can think of is getting OUT of Kaiser.

User's recommendation: Stay away from the giant healthcare machine…

Permanent nerve damage!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I had a total knee at Kaiser Ontario CA on the 3rd of May 2021. The anesthesiologist punctured my spine, (Eugene Kim) causing permanent nerve damage in my right foot, with numbness and horrible heel pain on walking, with feeling like hot sand and needles in my right foot toe quadrant.

Both feet, and my bladder, were affected for 3 + weeks. I told this to the PA and ortho surgeon on the one week follow up, and, only told it "would go away in a week or two". WRONG. A YEAR now....Many, many e-mails, grievances submitted, and nothing but "go away, nothing to see here"......My right foot has permanent nerve damaged....Kaiser has done nothing, since the pain is subjective, but say "GO AWAY"...A true story, my problem, according to Kaiser!

Wow.

Always been pleased with Kaiser, until now.....After 15+ calls, and messages to Kaiser, it took 4 months to get an MRI.. Nothing to see then, but 4 months after the fact!!!!

DUH. I got F'd by Kaiser...

Buyer beware.....

Trying to find a facility within Kaiser service area was told one was close or in Coos Bay. Found best location to receive service was miles away in Eugene. Also, Kaiser system from one area to another arent linked. Spoke with travel services in Northern California only to find out I needed to talk to Travel Services in Oregon.

Kaiser Proor Quality Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I visited Kaiser in January 2022 regarding an issue with my thumb. At that time the doctor communicated that the office would contact me to schedule time for surgery.

As of today, date I have called 6 times and left a message or spoken to someone in customer because no one would answer the phone, with the scheduling department about scheduling an appointment. No one has called me back.

On February 23, 2022, I filed a complaint regarding the quality of service, and no one returned my calls. On March 2, 2022, I received a letter from Kaiser about the complaint and was told that RN Sheppard apologize for the delay in communication, and to call the surgery scheduling team and that they would be willing to work with me. I called several times and both times no one in that department answered the phone.

I was able to reach customer service and was told that they would send a message for someone to contact me. Again, I complained about the process and the poor customer service. I called again and couldnt reach anyone and spoke with the Member Relations/Resolution dept. and requested a referral.

I requested a referral because the pain in my finger has gotten worse, and I do not have the confidence nor trust the doctor or the department.

I sent a message to the doctor approximately 6 weeks ago and he has not responded to my message this time. On March 19, 2022, I received a letter dated March 15, 2022, denying the request for a referral to go out have another organization do the surgery.

Kaiser is in flux and has no empathy and lacks the ability to conduct the business in a professional manner. I have communicated each time when I spoke with someone that the issue with my finger has gotten worse.

This is interesting because all they had to do was call me and set up a time so that I could make prepare for the service. But they didn't.

Customer service

Kaiser has a scheme that is like a labyrinth to prevent logging in until you agree to go paperless. It was very frustrating. A "Great Wall"! The great lady in customer service,(Zahra), completely understood and helped me get around that barricade. Every time you tried to log in it would log you out if you didn't accept paperless. Thank God and Zahra!

Negative experience for many years

I have been on pain management for over 20years and a year ago i lost several meds which i never had issues all these years. Followed protocol and filed police report. I have been force to weekly pick up rather than biweekly. It has been a financial hardship and cause issues w/ work due to bus. I have had to take Uber to get to pharmacy. I have had to come to work late, which i am in trouble and in danger of losing my employment. Overall it has been a financial stressful situation. I have expressed my frustration as well as tried to get information on why i am being punish and force picking up the pain meds which i need so that i can continue to work, provide for my family and be self-sufficient. The way i have been treated by Kaiser pain management has been frustrating. I have and continue to be depressed and suicidal but cannot communicate it to pain management because Dr. Cheng refuses to see me as a patient in pain but rather as an addict. He does not understand how pain medication has allowed me to have a life, work and be self-sufficient. My pain is no longer in control. However, i stop communicating due to the fact that in previous occasions when i have reported, my medication was cut but want to add other meds. I am asked to be more active, which i was when pain was under control. However, the current level of control is not sufficient, but I am asked to deal w/ it, even thought there is clear evidence of my lower and upper spine injury. What happens to my patient rights? What happens to my right to live my life w/ dignity? For many years i had a great provider, Dr. Damian Raymond, who changed practice in 2017 after having him as my provider for 18years. He was my angel and saved my life while allowed me to live my life w/ dignity. I never stop working and was able to help raise my kids. Now i live in fear of saying anything to the pain management provider Dr. Cheng because he has made it clear that he holds power over me. I live in fear that he will stop my pain meds at any time. He has lowered my medication w/o consent and when I have said anything, instead of listening and being understanding, he is harsh and continues to drop my medication. I feel that i have to be nice to him so that he won't again start to drop my pain medication to even lower levels. I hate that he has so much control. He tells me that the medication is killing me. I express that i understand that there are negative side effect of medication intake long term and that every medication has such effect. However, i also noted how medication has been life-saving. I was in a dark place and always in pain after my accident. Dr. Damian was my savior as well as the pain medication that got me back on my feet and working again. All the years in chronic pain medication management, i have worked full time and never missed a day. I live w/ pain, but pain that i could manage. However, when I told this to Dr. Cheng, he told me it was non-sense. I told him i have patient rights, Again NON-SENSE he said. I have suffered in silence since then. Working w/ a provider who does not give a *** about me as a patient. I live under his ruling and personal beliefs rather than a provider who should be helping me. Dr. Cheng approach is COLD and non-human. I was accustomed to work w/ my provider, who allowed me to be open w/o consequence for expressing my concerns. I was encouraged to be my own advocate by a provider who was my ally. Trust was so important as well as my relationship w/ Dr. Damian that i was on top of my medication intake and any follow up as it was important for me that he knew how much i valued our patient to provider relationship. It all change once he changed departments. Today i live in fear and deeply depress because of my pain and lack of trust w/ new providers whose oath is to do no harm and treat patients w/ dignity and respect and yet i am being harmed day in an out by the very Kaiser establishment who is supposed to provide quality care and not treat me as just a number. I was force to working w/ Dr. Cheng because my new provider was not equipped or comfortable w/ working w/ my high level of pain medication. Now my medical care is being handle by a pain management provider who has no clue on my medical history but most importantly, me as a human being. My record showed i was a model patient, NO ISSUES over 18years. When i was assigned to work w/ Dr. Cheng due to the previous provider leaving unexpectedly, Dr. Cheng told me that he would decrease medication but that i was in control and would stop when my pain was in control. I believed him and when i asked him to stop, it was then when he looked at me and told me that he had never had such discussion and patient agreement w/ me. I have been in *** since then, and Kaiser does allow such provider to threat us pain management patients like garbage. Today i take less meds, am in serious pain day in and out as well as treated as an addict by the provider who is supposed to provide me w/ care and not allow his personal feelings and beliefs upon his patient. However, my new medical provider Dr. Sal Fazio has gotten better and i feel more comfortable w/ him as i feel that he sees me now as a human being and his approach is not just medical but personal which Pain management sorely lacks. I know i am not the only one that has had such experience w/ Kaiser pain management approach. I am constantly in pain, i am trying to hold on to my dignity and ability to still work and keep a roof over my head. It has become more difficult and come close to losing my job. I have expressed such concerns to Dr. Cheng, butt he does not care. When i have told him that i have rights as a patient, he flat out has demised me and states he knows best. Because of my diabetes, Dr. Cheng uses that to say it is the cause of my pain, even though it was diagnosed in 8/2017. My chronic pain diagnosis was in 2000 and neuropathy in 2004. As noted before, w/ Dr. Damian i was always on top of my care until a year before he changes departments in 2017. All was fine. Even when diagnosed w/ diabetes, all tests were food AC1 was 6.2. However, all change as w/ Dr. Cheng and pain meds FORCE decrease. I became less active due to pain increase. I expressed to him how i could not be active, but it felt on def ears. I filed complaints, but Kaiser Patient relations has changed and i never spoke w/ anyone after filling a report. However, i receive a decision that was made by a bunch of Kaiser people that don't know crap about living w/ pain and dealing w/ Dr. Cheng as a patient. I have expressed my desire to no longer live several times, but response has been as expected, COLD and basically treated as crazy. I am hanging by a thin thread w/ out support or options. Dr. Cheng holds power over the pain meds i need to live w/ pain control and per his actions and words, i should be thankful that i get the meds he prescribes. Recently, he told me that he would not drop my medication further if i work on my diabetes and get it in control? I eat healthier but exercise has been challenging because of my pain. I have told him this several times and yet he fails to hear me. If my pain was in better control, I would be more active as i was in 2017 prior to me working w/ him. I am now in fear that if i don't lower my diabetes, Dr. Cheng will drop my meds. My day to day is a living *** now and i don't see how long i can keep on living like this. Every day i think of suicide and getting closer to ending it all cancellations

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I went there last Friday January 21 in ER in the morning between 7-8 am with severe pain on my left side of my body. They were excellent until they gave me a second dose of morphine after few hours the nurse told me Im being discharged because there are 30 patients waiting outside.

I told her Im still sick I cant be discharged she put me in wheelchair and brought me to the cashier and I started to vomit and asked her to give me a kidney basin and gave me a bag and left. Im sick why she didnt ask Dr Chuong to give me IM injection so I will feel better. Im a RN too and then you will experience this. Everyone is looking at me vomiting like crazy.

She put me in embarrassing situation and Im sick and helpless. I need this problem resolved please.

Sorry to hear they did that to you. Kaiser cancelled my appointment too for this Thursday and did not even tell me.

I found out it was cancelled I went to the website to check a few things then I went to appointments and my appointment was not listed anymore. I called the main Kaiser number the lady check my file an she said yes my doctor cancelled my appointment and she said they gave no reason either.

I need that appointment I have some serious health issues going on recently. HOnestly I am so fed up with Kaiser I have had bad treatment from them for years and I regret staying with them now my health is in terrible shape thanks to Kaiser.

Poor customer satisfaction- hidden copays, horrible surgeon ratings, incompetent scheduling, no follow up phone calls.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

The doctors office canceled an appointment via email which is unheard of, the billing department phoned at 8pm which is way after business hours and they hit you with hidden co-pays. Concerning is the fact that in Atlanta they listed only 4 gyn surgeons of which the one they recommended has HORRIBLE reviews.

This insurance company is only after money and not the well being of the clients. My daughter was in pain because the scheduling office made a mistake an now she must wait 23 days to see the doctor who knows she is in need of surgery.

However, until she is able to switch insurance we are stuck but I will be interrogating the doctor and surgeon with my lawyers on stand by incase they screw up. HORRIBLE insurance company RUN RUN!

I have been treated terrible by many doctors at Kaiser. Talk to me in condescending manner at the doctor visits, I send them emails asking about my medicines and they fail to get back to me.

I was in the ER once for a couple of things the nurse would hardly come to my room I was there for almost 10 hours and no one even offered me a glass of water or a sandwich or a little jello thing so I would not get weak and faint. Very careless and show no respect to their patients at all !!!
